Two Accelerate Sport Clients Nominated For Sports Federation Of The Year

Accelerate Sport are incredibly proud to announce that two of our clients have been nominated for the Federation of the Year 2017 at the SA Sports Awards. Both Surfing SA (SSA) and Netball SA (NSA) have had stand-out years and experienced considerable success at both National Level and in development of their respective sports.

NSA has seen the SPAR Proteas continue their rise in the sport under the tutelage of Norma Plummer, whereby they followed up narrow losses to top two teams in the world, Australia and New Zealand, with a victory against England (3rd in the world).

The sport continues to see massive growth, with the participation demographics closely mirroring those of South Africa and thus ensuring that exposure to the sport is all inclusive. This is key to NSA’s commitment to a transformed National Team, which has been boosted by the increased competition and exposure to competition at all levels of Netball in South Africa.

Surfing has seen a significant increase in interest since the announcement of it becoming an Olympic Sport in 2020 and Surfing South Africa has enjoyed a stellar year as they build towards 2020 games.

SSA has had a full calendar in 2017, with events taking place all up the coast throughout the year. The National Team travelled to France and The Junior National Team travelled to Japan to compete in their respective ISA World Games, while the South African Adaptive Surfing Team will travel to California in November for their chance to compete on the global stage.

Add to that the Mercedes – Benz SA National Championships, the Billabong Junior Championships, SA Adaptive Championships as well as all the various age group and development events taking place, including development programmes at all City Surf Series events held this year and it is obvious Surfing is on the rise again.

We wish both clients the best of luck in their pursuit of the award, both are fully deserving of their nominations and we are excited for the future alongside these two great clients.
